Biography and Resume

Painter, calligrapher and educator Judith Joseph is a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Since 1978, she has lived in and around Chicago, Illinois.  She has created hundreds of commissioned works for individuals and public institutions, and her specialty is the Ketubah (Hebrew illuminated marriage contract, an illustrated calligraphic work used in Jewish weddings).

In addition to her painting and illustration commissions, she creates and exhibits paintings in oil, egg tempera and watercolor, and painted works on glass and silk. Her work is represented by Gallery 659 in Glencoe, Illinois. She has been recognized by the Illinois Arts Council with Artist's Fellowship Awards in 1998 and 2004.

Judith teaches painting at the Chicago Botanic Garden and The Art Center, Highland Park. She is an art consultant, and her portfolio may be viewed at jjartconsult.com.

She spends a lot of time in the woods in northern Wisconsin with her husband, Ted, and their three sons, Cameron, Ethan and Emmett.  She is an animal lover whose family life is greatly enhanced by the presence of Willow, a beloved and spoiled golden retriever.
