from Judith:

Please email me (judithstudio@yahoo.com) or call (847-204-4043) to order a custom-made ketubah. I am available for portfolio viewings in my Northbrook, Illinois studio by appointment.  If you are unable to visit my studio, I can design the Ketubah with you by consulting via telephone, email, fax, etc.

Viewing the portfolio (in person or on the website) helps you to see the range of my work.  The viewing is followed up with a design meeting or telephone consultation.  Since couples rarely enter this process knowing what they want their Ketubah to look like, I have developed an interview process to draw out their tastes, interests and passions.

Following the interview, which usually involves on-the-spot sketching and sharing of ideas, I develop a detailed colored pencil sketch and email it or mail a copy for the couple's approval.  Once the sketch is accepted, I begin work on the Ketubah.

Redwoods Ketubah, completed in egg tempera. 2005

This Ketubah was created for a couple in San Luis Obispo, California. The imagery (Cerro San Luis Mountain, redwood and live-oak trees, ocean, surfboards, wolf-cubs, guitars, wildflowers, zen rock garden, doves of peace) reflects their passions and history.

The finished Ketubah is presented to the couple in a presentation portfolio (see below), suitable for display on an easel at the wedding and sturdy enough to protect the Ketubah until it is framed permanently.  If shipping is required, the Ketubah is shipped, insured, in a heavy-duty art shipping carton.

Olivier and Malika of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, see their ketubah for the first time at Judith's Northbrook studio (2008).

Price of a Ketubah

The price for a custom-designed, hand-lettered and hand-painted, one-of-a-kind Ketubah in egg-tempera on rag paper (as shown and described) is around $2200.

For a larger ketubah (30" X 40") in acrylic on canvas, the price is around $3000 (see example).
